Our Story

Welcome to Pocket Grower, a leading manufacturer of potting mixtures, dedicated to revolutionising agriculture and promoting sustainable farming practises. Our company was born out of a profound desire to overcome failures in the agricultural sector and, thereby, make a positive impact on society through entrepreneurship.

After leaving my job with zero capital in hand, I was determined to become an entrepreneur. The emergence of a business idea with the potential for transformative change was inspired by the field of agriculture. We took a leap of faith and leased waste lands in our area, embarking on our first lessons in agriculture with scientific banana cultivation. Throughout our journey, Krishi Bhavan provided invaluable help and guidance in enabling our venture to be a great success, thus making our first agri-venture a profitable one.

As we gained experience and expertise, we diversified our crops to include a wide range of products, from vegetables and tubers to fruits and grains. The success we achieved in agriculture not only increased our confidence but also encouraged more individuals in our locality to adopt farming as a viable source of income.

It was at Krishi Vigyanakendra (KVK) in Kollam that a pivotal idea struck me: that "every farmer, regardless of their background, should contribute something useful to agriculture." I received extensive training in vermicompost production and agricultural management from the Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI) and Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) courses at Kerala Agriculture University. This knowledge led me to the remarkable potential of converting post-till farm residues into exceptional vermicompost.

Motivated by this revelation, I joined forces with my beloved wife, Jisha, and brother, Akhil, to establish a vermicompost facility. Through the efficient utilisation of agricultural residues, we produced and marketed premium-grade vermicompost. This venture not only served as an additional source of income for farmers but also played a significant role in fostering sustainable farming practises. Moreover, by offering an eco-friendly alternative to chemical fertilisers, our initiative contributed to the preservation of soil health and the reduction of environmental impact. The success of our vermicompost unit further inspired other individuals in our area to explore similar entrepreneurial opportunities in agriculture, thereby promoting rural entrepreneurship and fostering economic growth in the region.

In our early stages, we primarily focused on kitchen gardens. However, we faced setbacks due to the limited knowledge and awareness among small-scale farmers regarding the importance of organic fertilisers and soil health during cultivation.Driven by the realisation that ‘embedded within each individual lies a latent farmer waiting to emerge, their agricultural potential waiting to be unearthed’, we dedicated ourselves to finding solutions for individuals new to agricultural ventures. We became acutely aware of the challenges they faced, with one significant obstacle being their lack of access to scientifically formulated, high-quality planting mixes.
